Easy and Delicious with an Electric Cooker

You do not have a great deal of time these days trying to live in a fast paced world. Everyone has too much to do and too many places to go to eat home cooked meals. This often means people turn to fast food regularly. You can feed your family home cooked meals even when time is tight.

When you use and electric cooker, also known as a crock pot, you can prepare all of the ingredients for your meal at a time that is convenient for you. You can then put all of the components into the electric cooker and leave them while you go about your day. Your meal is ready at dinner time and you do not have to hit the drive through. You are spared from slaving over a hot stove during the time when you are the most worn down.

An electric cooker is a pretty simple small appliance. It is a pot with a tight cover that cooks food at a low temperature for a long time. While many people think the only one pot recipes that are out there are soups and stews, this just is not true. You can cook just about anything in an electric cooker; soups, vegetarian entrees, meat entrees and even delicious deserts.

When you purchase an electric cooker make sure you purchase one with a removable pot for easer cleaning. They pot can also be taken out of the base and placed on the top of the stove. This way you can brown your meat or sauté the vegetables first and you will have no additional dirty pans to clean up. If you like you can prepare all of the ingredients in the pot and place it in the refrigerator so that all you have to do is place it in the base and turn it on in the morning.

You can purchase electric cookers in different sizes ranging from 1.5 quarts to 7 quarts. You may want to have more than one depending on the size of your family and what recipes you are interested in cooking. Always try a new recipe on the weekend when you can watch the electric cooker and keep and eye on your food. Many electric cookers have three settings: low, medium and high. These settings are different for each cooker which is why it is good to do a test run. One last thing, always keep the lid on. Every time you take it off it takes 20 minutes for the electric cooker to heat back up.
